Weddings are extremely simple in nature with no elaborate rituals. What stands out in these weddings there is no priest in attendance, nor do they have the traditional pheras as part of the wedding ritual. The bride is dressed up ina brocade sari in the traditional manner worn by women folks of Coorg.
The newly to wed groom and bride invoke the blessings of their fore fathers by paying their respects by bowing. Then, the usual gay and gaiety from all the wedding guests who have gathered, wherein they bestow their best wishes to the newly married couple. At this juncture, the newly wed bride gets to attach her husbands “Okka” name.
